Givers and Takers

WMMM #002 - Givers and Takers

Cardinal Initiatives Newsletter Feb 3, 2023 1 min read

You never hear from some people until they need something.

Do you know anyone like that?

If you try hard enough, you could place all the people you know into two categories: Givers and Takers.

Behaviors commonly found with Takers:

- Call your cell phone on an impulse, and if you answer, expect you to be free to speak at that very moment

- Don’t return your calls or emails promptly unless they are expecting something from you that they need

- Ask for favors but take no IOUs

- One of those people who doesn’t cancel a reservation when their plans change

- Self-oriented (me, mine).

Behaviors commonly found with Givers:

- When calling, they ask immediately if they have caught you at a good time to speak

- Offer their time and do favors freely without expectation of reciprocation

- Always consider others first when a choice presents itself

- Reach out spontaneously with something of interest or value to you

- Selfless (you, yours, we, ours).

Be a Giver.
